GESAC 50m Pool Update: Great news for 50M Pool swimmers.

We have been able to get the Carnegie pool open from Wednesday 20 September from 4pm for strictly GESAC members. It will be only available from 6:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 12:00pm Saturdays and Sundays. This is limited to the 50m pool and only for the listed times until GESAC’s pool is fully operational.

The works are continuing with painting commencing shortly. Due to the colder temperatures and rain that we have been experiencing, the three coats which need to be applied will require additional time for curing under a specific ‘cold cure’ method. This however, will mean an additional delay to the pool opening. Actual works are now anticipated to be completed and the pool reopened by Monday 2 October. The works are highly weather dependent so there is the possibility the pool may be opened slightly earlier or later. Please be assured that Council and its contractors are working hard to get the 50m pool open as quickly as possible. This tile issue is at large an industry wide issue and one that we are tackling now, rather than leaving until summer when the impact would be greater.

As a way of reducing the impact to our members we have negotiated with user groups to reduce their usage and we have extended the operating hours of the 25m pool to create more space for lap swimming. We have also extended the opening hours of the Learn-to-Swim Pool and Pirates Cove until 8pm Monday to Friday.

We thank all our pool users, schools, sporting clubs and community groups for their patience and understanding while these essential works go ahead.

Members unable to utilise their membership can suspend free of charge via the link:

We apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience at this time.

The Indoor 25m Pool and Wellness Area hours have been extended as follows:

Monday – Thursdays until 9.30pm.

Fridays until 8.45pm.
